The problem with being a news-junkie,

is the subtle brainwashing into worldly values — pride, human achievement, somebodiness, with a steady stream of stories about the excellence and failure of humans, all of which undermines the core values of the Upside-down Kingdom of Jesus — radical humility, radical love, childlike dependency.  The news strokes/encourages ShepherdDave in the wrong direction — away from contentment in Jesus and His imputed worthiness, and TOWARD worthIERness of his own.  Assessor of Excellence.

—ShepherdDave, who seldom sees the problem, unless the Spirit is using something like Ecclesiastes to expose the real Dave’sFlesh to Dave, so he’s freshly convicted of being dissatisfied with Jesus and His imputed worthiness, so he’s momentarily DumbSheepDave, enjoying the bliss of Jesus-dependency/Jesus-contentment/Jesus-humility, so the nonbelievers around him might experience the love of Jesus
