Why can't I have easier, Jesus?

Because I'm retraining you in submissiveness, Dave. I love you too much to leave you as you are -- dependent on your circumstances for happiness. You don't imagine yourself willful, self-absorbed, needing to be retrained, but you are. Human-wisdom is lord of your life, instead of Me. Your human-wisdom is the enemy of your happiness, Dave. Easier doesn't get the job done. In fact, easier makes you worse. Sometimes I give you circumstances that are frustrating, discouraging, anxiety producing, because that works with you, Dave -- gets your attention, brings you to the end of yourself, disillusions you about your human-wisdom, motivates you to look to Me.

Thank You, Jesus, that You don't give me what my human-wisdom wants, but You give me what's BEST for me -- even if it's brutal. I believe that a little bit, Lord, but forgive my unbelief. Thank You, that grace is for faith-wimps -- that I QUALIFY for Your grace. Thank You for exposing my human-wisdom-dependency to me.
