Why are Christians confession-avoidant?
Why do we view confession as negative? Because confession means failure, and failure-avoidance explains so much of why we do, when we do, how we do, living in denial of the EXTENT of our failures. We dowanna SEE the awful truth about ourselves. The humble are not failure-avoidant/confession-avoidant because the humble are not threatened by their failures, but rather LEARN from their failures, BENEFIT from their failures. Only the proud are failure-avoidant -- unsatisfied with Jesus and His imputed worthiness, wanting some of our own. Only the proud are human-wisdom-dependent, confident-we-know-what's-best. Humble Christians are clueless-they-know-what's-best, and trust that Jesus knows, and will deliver what's best. Only humble Christians are compelling to seculars.
Unrecognized-and-therefore-unconfessed sin delivers misery. CONFESSion is the pathway to sanity, happiness. And fruitfulness with seculars.
