the best-possible circumstances for you. Your human-wisdom does NOT believe this, nor would a jury of your friends and family who love you the most, but NObody's human-wisdom knows what's best for each of Jesus' kids. Only Jesus knows. And He delivers. When I struggle to believe this, I feel ALONE and in CHARGE of my life, like it's UP TO DAVE to decide right, do right, be right, and then sometimes the Spirit opens my eyes to SEE my human-wisdom-dependency, so I can CONFESS my unbelief in His sovereign reign over every detail of my life. Ahhh.
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and such-an-unnecessarily-stressful life as a human-wisdom-dependent. Seculars are not impressed, compelled, by the Jesus in Christians who function as human-wisdom-dependents.
But wait, Dave. What if I'm enduring unusual suffering? How can more suffering be BEST for me? Romans 5 says suffering produces perseverance, then character, then hope/faith/dependency/humility -- always our biggest need. Especially in the midst of suffering. Our human-wisdom would have us believe our biggest need is RELIEF -- that Jesus is NOT in charge, does NOT know what He's doing, is NOT loving. Human-wisdom is the enemy of our happiness.
