The more I’m awed by Jesus,
the easier it is to unconditionally love the hard to love, including myself, and the easier it is to not fear failure — not fear the lowly place of a nobody/loser. Live and love with reckless abandon. Ahhh.
The more I’m awed by human accomplishment, competence, excellence, somebodiness, the easier it is to feel others-contempt and self-contempt. Pride. Competitive. Pressure. ShepherdDave.
So how can I be freshly awed by Jesus? For me, reading about Him in the Gospels, has been used of the Spirit to help me realize afresh, the infinite contrast between human somebodiness and Somebodiness. And convict me of being awed by mere mortals, today’s somebodies, experts, the accomplished, and my placing them on par with Jesus. And convict me of my own obsession with excellence, somebodiness, evidencing my dissatisfaction with Jesus and His imputed somebodiness, worthiness. Ahhh. Fresh awe of Jesus.
