Only a fool expects happiness

Updated: Sep 13, 2020

to flow from human-wisdom.   A Christian who is wise in own eyes, leaning on own understanding, is to be pitied above all humans.

By contrast, the Christian with biblical wisdom expects happiness to flow from Jesus-dependency. And s/he’s not even sure what it will look like, but s/he trusts SovereignShepherdJesus to know, and deliver. Nobody is wise/humble/Jesus-dependent unless freshly convicted of human-wisdom-dependency/self-reliance/pride. And it doesn’t last long, because human-wisdom is so dominant in our lives, outside the Church, and INside. It’s everywhere. Scripture does not inform our sense of reality as we go through our day, but human-wisdom does. Scripture says human-wisdom is NOT Lord of all, but Jesus IS. That Jesus is totally sovereign. Government is a fruit of human-wisdom. Including democracy. Wise in our own eyes, leaning on our own understanding. Explains why our world is such a mess. The problem is not only the opposition. The problem is also us.
