Hearing the Gospel afresh is not life-changing
for Christians, unless we are unusually-self-aware, because only unusually-self-aware Christians realize so much willfulness/agenda/self-absorption lurks inside. A Christian who has a sense of having been forgiven much, loves much -- others, self, Jesus, and His genius plan for everyone. And because the unusually-self-aware are sensitive to their inner world, they are sensitive to others. Sensitive types are the best lovers of others.
Even the unusually-self-aware are bigtime blind to our sin, unless our eyes are freshly opened by the Holy Spirit, so we are freshly undone, contrite, humble, unconditional lovers of others and self. And it doesn't last long in my experience.
Seculars enjoy being around unusually-self-aware Christians -- those who have been freshly convicted of pride/self-absorption/human-wisdom-dependency, so they CONFESS, and experience fresh grace.
