DumbSheepDave's first selfie,

to wish you a Merry Christmas from Hatfield, and to resend last Tuesday's post, which did't get to most of you because of Internet problems last week. Christmas is a time for remembering that Jesus not only came to secure for us a place in Heaven, but also to retrain us in a much-better way of living -- dependent on Him, not ourselves.

Why can't I have easier, Jesus?

Human-wisdom -- mine and others, always tries to convince me that easIER would make me happier. And I'm gullible.

EasIER won't make you happier, Dave. In Heaven you'll have easy 24/7. Right now, I'm using harrrd, suffering, in your life, to disillusion you about the trustworthiness of human-wisdom. Your human-wisdom is the enemy of your happiness, causing you to be circumstance-dependent for your joy and peace. Your biggest need, Dave, is to be retrained to trust Me, instead of your human-wisdom, so you'll experience LIFE in this world, and have a faith that is contagious to the seculars around you. It is painful being retrained, but it's good-painful, healing-painful, and you will look back on this brutal time of your life, and thank Me profusely for the painful retraining. Just you wait.

-- Dave McCarty, GospelFriendships, who believes a little bit, but only when freshly convicted by the Spirit of his human-wisdom-dependency
